POWER PLANT FOR BARBADOS
DAKO WORLDWIDE TRANSPORT GMBH has concluded the delivery of a 33 MW power plant to the island of Barbados in the Caribbean Sea.
Due to several weak bridges on the route from the port of Bridgetown to the site and heavy reinforcement costs, DAKO proposed a beach landing operation in order to avoid all bridges and shorten the route to only 2km. Furthermore a temporary roll-off ramp and a completely new road was built, all according to the environmental requirement of the local authorities.
For this operation DAKO has mobilized a 2000 ton ocean deck barge with Ro/Ro facilities along with the necessary modular trailer and a 500 ton capacity gantry system from Colombia to transport, assemble and deliver the 145 tons gen-sets onto foundation.
The entire operation was executed successfully meeting very strict COVID-19 protocols and even during the hurricane and rainy season.
