Power Plant Transport for Brikama II / Gambia

DAKO LTW AFRICA Ltd., a joint venture company formed by DAKO WORLDWIDE TRANSPORT GMBH from Germany and its local partner Consortium LTW of Dakar / Senegal, was nominated to transport engines weighing each 190 tons + generators and the respective accessories from Europe via the port of Rotterdam to the Brikama II power plant in Gambia.

The main challenge of this project was the local transportation from vessel arriving in Banjul port up to the construction site including the delivery of the heavy components onto the foundations. For this the DAKO LTW AFRICA Ltd. maintains in West Africa the necessary equipment including 20 Goldhofer hydraulic axles of modern design, a 600 HP MAN heavy duty prime mover and especially designed for the use in Africa DAKO's own 400 ton capacity jacking and sliding system to securely deliver the heavy engines from arriving trailer onto the foundation inside the power plant.

The execution of this transport and the free-site delivery was done in June / July 2019 during the very warm period and just before the start of the rainy season. The operation was prepared and executed by engineers of the DAKO organization jointly with the managing director of DAKO LTW AFRICA Ltd.
Another problem of the transportation was a long bridge between the port of Banjul and the final construction site of which unfortunately no detailed information regarding capacity was available. So DAKO arranged for the respective calculations through specialists in Germany. The whole transportation and the site delivery was terminated in time and without any damage to the cargo equipment or environment and to the entire satisfaction of the client.

Another job successfully done.
First class in projects.
