Power Plant Guatemala

DAKO WORLDWIDE TRANSPORT GMBH has successfully organized and executed the transport of a new power plant which is installed in Chimaltenango about 80 km north of Guatemala City in the Guatemalan highlands. The transport consisted of heavy pieces with unit weights of up to 100 tons. The transports into the mountains were very demanding since slopes with up to 15% had to be mastered. Various weak bridges had to be reinforced or overbridged and road construction and rebuilding was part of the work.

The partner of DAKO, DACO HEAVY LIFT DE CENTRO AMERICA S.A., Guatemala, had to use up to three prime movers to achieve this difficult task. Part of the transport was executed by usage of a drop deck to reduce the total height of the transport. All heavy lifts were delivered timely to the construction site in December 2005.
